The transfer between Juan Santamaría International Airport and Puerto Viejo de Limón takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
For much of the journey you'll enjoy one of the most scenic routes in Costa Rica, crossing mountain areas and one of the country's great forest lungs. The route includes passing through a tunnel that crosses the mountain, before beginning the descent toward the Caribbean region.
The landscape changes progressively along the way. We leave behind the urban environment of the Central Valley and enter the mountains and tropical forests of Costa Rica.
After crossing the mountain area, the road changes completely: you'll find a relatively recent construction — wide, straight and in excellent condition — that allows you to continue the journey toward the Caribbean coast with greater comfort.
